March 21-22, 2014 – LUUM3 Super Marathon

On its third year, IRUNNERS, the Creator and Organizer of the most awaited Super Event of 2014, the La Union Unity Marathon or LUUM promises 3 times the passion, 3 times the route difficulty and hardship and 3 times jaw-dropping scenery made especially for all the daring, brave and super runners out there!

To assure better organization, there will be two separate days for the lower and higher categories of the event. The higher categories of 10K, 21K, 42K and 50K will be on early morning hours of the 22nd of March 2014 and the lower categories of 1K, 3K, and 5K will be on the night (6PM) of 21st of March 2014.

The finish line of the higher categories will be situated on top of the wicked mountains of Cadaclan or famously know as Botanical Garden. This is designed because, first, we want to the extend the route up to the extremely beautiful and less traveled mountains of town of Bagulin where the scenery is reminiscent of Banaue in Ifugao, and the nature is still at its pristine and unspoiled state. But this re-routing comes with a prize. This would make the route 3 times challenging compared with what is featured in LUUM2. The other reason for re-routing is to give opportunity to the participants to enjoy the view and beauty of the route which was not given attention last year.

In the 3rd edition of LUUM, we will release the runners at exactly 3AM, a little late compared last year because we believed that the runners truly deserve to enjoy the beauty of the scenery while running in the ‘most technically difficult’ route in the country. The move to transfer the finish line in Botanical Garden is strategically planned to protect the runners from scorching heat of the sun, since the road to Botanical Garden is well shaded with towering mountains and forest (asked the participants of LUUM2).

For those runners who have tasted the bitter-sweetness of LUUM2 and promised to go back, I am warning everyone to prepare 3 times the effort you have given when you conquered LUUM2. And for the runners who would like to taste the bitter-sweetness of LUUM3, better asked a runner or two who ran in LUUM2 before you register for you to have at-least a 50% idea on what to expect here in LUUM3.

DISCLAIMER: This message is not meant to give an element of hype into event, this is all base on actual experience of runners who tried and conquered LUUM2.

Bottom line is if you think you have seen the best, the most beautiful and the most technically difficult running route in the country, then think again!

Good news for all LUUM2 participants, should you decide to join the LUUM3, you will be receiving a special discount of P300 in the registration fees and the discount is good until the last day of registration, this is to express our gratitude for your support, and our way to invite you to challenge yourself once more in the most beautiful, pristine, and technically difficult route in the country!
